Hey Seattlites my wife and I are planning on competing in the Tough Mudder coming to the Seattle area May 4th. If you want to push yourself with a new challenge we'd love to meet people in the area we live in Montlake next to the Arboretum. The last movie I watched was last night "Change up" and I'm currently reading an exercise science book called Periodized Training for the Athlete. We have a 2 year old, we are in our late 20's just moved here from LA. Cheers!

Urban Golf Oct 18th at 2pm. Come out and meet some people. [14 Oct 2008|01:29am]

urbn_v02
Seattle Urban Golf

We had around 200 people at the last one, and if weather is nice there will be more! This is a chance to get paired up with a group of people who you will be playing 9 holes of golf and drinking with. So this is a great way to meet people!

This is a 9 hole 9 bar course, so the age restriction is strictly 21 and over.

For those of you who don't know Urban Golf is a bar crawl (where you go to many different bars) and non competitive golf tournament (in the sidewalks, alley ways, parking lots). The idea is to play a hole of golf from one bar to another with a large number of other people. This summer there were roughly 200 people, so hopefully this time there will be more.

"Seattle's Fifth Biannual Urban Golf Tournament/Bar Crawl is going down Saturday October 18th. All you need is a golf club, some fancy duds and a $3 ball fee to join. Bring your ball from a previous game and play for free!

Tee off is at 2pm.

Meet at Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill.

The Seattle Urban Golf tournament happens rain or shine (you may want to stock up on stylish golf umbrellas now).

Teams will be about 8-10 people. We'll hook you up and set your tee time on a first come first serve basis. Get together a full team, half team or come by yourself.

Just remember to bring a golf club (found cheap at Goodwill + we'll have a few loaners), your fanciest pants, the $3 fee plus some "cash" for drinks.

We'll provide course maps, rules and balls

Hey everyone. My name is Kerry and I just moved here a month ago from Boston. I am a 22 year old female working for a non profit. I live in the vicinity of 23rd and E Madison.

The last movie I saw was Rocket Science.

The last  book I read was by Haruki Mirukami.

I don't really have a fav restaurant yet but I tried some Ethiopian food the other night and it was great.

My favorite memory is dancing on stage with the Chieftans the other night at Marymoore Park...so random!

I am looking for friends outside of work so feel free to comment back here. I am really friendly and love meeting new people. Check out my profile to learn more about me.

Hey All,

I moved to Seattle a few months ago and have been struggling to make friends, I am pretty out going, but Seattlites seem to be particular.

as for the Survey

I live in Capital Hill.

I am currently reading A clock work orange.

I recently finished reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

My favorite local restaurant is any place that delivers.

My favorite memory of seattle thus far is going to the after party for the center piece gala at SIFF.

Other pertinent info,

I am originally from Maryland, I speak French, have traveled extensively and can usually be found in Sun Liquor on any given evening.

Hey! My name is Chelsea and I'm 18. I go to the UW, so I only live in Seattle during the school year. Otherwise, I live in Bellevue, which is quite close. I just thought it would be nice to meet more people in Seattle :] Feel free to ask me anything. I'm better with answering questions than talking about myself :P Also feel free to add me as a friend! It's always nice to have new LJ friends.

Intro Questions:

*In which neighborhood (or city if you're not in Seattle) do you live/work?
I live between the UW and Bellevue, but I work in Bellevue. I found a really amazing job working with people that have disabilities :]

*What was the last movie you've seen?
I saw Kung Fu Panda the other day. It was actually really good.

*what was the last book you've read?
I'm working on Choke by Chuck Palahniuk

*What is your favorite local restaurant?
That's a tough one. Most of my dining has been limited to the U-district. There's some really good teriyaki over there.

*what is your favorite seattle memory (playing jenga at sit n spin, roller-blading at green lake, making out in front of the fremont troll, etc)?
I'm gonna go with visiting Westlake and Seattle Center during Christmas time and riding the carosel.

I am clearig out an apartment full of stuff and I need to sell it ALL. There are HUNDREDS of antiques and figurines (mostly cat stuff), hundreds of books, vinyl albums, cassette tapes, 8 track tapes, VHS tapes, kids games, and a ton of other stuff. All half of the monies made will go into a fund for my surgery ( my insurance decided not to pay it). Everything is inexpensive, and there are some great finds in there.

Moving back to Seattle June 1st. [01 May 2008|01:53pm]

urbn_v02
[ mood | ecstatic ]

Hi everyone.  I have decided to move back to Seattle at the end of the month; and this time I have decided to meet some people instead of doing my whole lone gunmen style of living and meeting folks other then hardcore computer nerds (though I have no problem meeting more!)

*in which neighborhood (or city if you're not in seattle) do you live/work?
I work for a company out in Florida and "work from home"  with home being coffee shops most of the time.  I haven't decided on where I will be living.  I really do not want to get an apartment and will instead hopefully be doing some urban camping; meaning finding someone with a back yard who will rent me out a space to pop a tent.  Hopefully it will be in the captial hill or beacon hill area.

*what was the last movie you've seen?
I couldn't sleep last night so at about 4am I decided it was finally warm enough to start setting up my movie theater in the garage.  While doing that I was watching the day after tomorrow.  Newest move I have seen I think was day watcher.

*what was the last book you've read?
I read computer manuals, science/theory books and trashy sci-fi books.  Last one I read / am reading is based on how religion and technology thrive and cause one another to grow.

*what is your favorite local restaurant?
Pho brothers.

*what is your favorite seattle memory (playing jenga at sit n spin, roller-blading at green lake, making out in front of the fremont troll, etc)?
Climbing mount ranier past the snow line.

Lets see, I'm a computer nerd if you couldn't tell, really into music (punk of all styles and industrial all styles minus goffik).  I'm looking to get pretty involved in some communities and groups when I get out there, its just always been so difficult to get involved on projects when you know hardly anyone lol.

So yeah thats me in a nutshell, I drink, smoke, listen to music and work on the computer.  I can be a bit of a jerk, but I'm that witty type of jerk that makes everyone laugh.

Hi all! I moved to seattle in september from Montana...needed a change of scenery I guess!

*in which neighborhood (or city if you're not in seattle) do you live/work?
I live in the central district, I'm going to Seattle Central Community College...not studying anything specific right now I would like to transfer to a uni soon though.

*what was the last movie you've seen?
I saw 'Atonement' and 'There Will Be Blood' on my birthday a couple weeks ago, but I watched The Princess Bride last night...

*what was the last book you've read?
Finished Water For Elephants last week...It was fantastic

*what is your favorite local restaurant?

Awesome

*what is your favorite seattle memory (playing jenga at sit n spin, roller-blading at green lake, making out in front of the fremont troll, etc)?
Driving around looking at all the Tacky Christmas Light displays.
Going to the RCRG semi-finals last summer

[ mood | hungry ]

I'm a 25 year old girl living in Bellevue. Originally from a small town in Indiana, excitement capital of America.

Uh, I've been here for about two years I think, but all of my friends/roommates are Digipen students, and they are all males. Nerdy males. Not that there's anything wrong with that! It does get very boring listening to them talk about programming for a bojillion years, although it's given me ample alone time to learn how to crochet and make some fine handicrafts. Now I'm in this phase of crocheting doll costumes and stuffed animals. I'm hoping to make a series of gnomes in the very near future. Besides that I like to go shopping at used-clothes stores and craft supplies places. I like to find fun discarded things and make them into prizes.

Anyway, I decided to join this community because I went to my roommate's friend's birthday party last week (I was the only girl there), and everyone's like, "why don't you ever bring any of your friends over?" Well, because I don't have any! ;o; Embarrassing.

So I'd just like to meet some interesting friends from around here and learn about some fun places to go or things to do, if you please. I don't go to Seattle that much because I don't have a car, and the one time I took a bus to downtown by myself I got heckled by various delinquents so I'm not too eager to try that again unless I know what I'm doing. D:

To the survey!

*in which neighborhood (or city if you're not in seattle) do you live/work?
Bellevue/Redmond. I'm on like, the border of those two. And I go to Bellevue Community College where I study Chinese.

*what was the last movie you've seen?
Cloverfield, Jesus Camp? I don't know. I watch A LOT of movies. My favorites are horror movies, especially foreign/weird ones. I love zombies and am eagerly awaiting the zombie apocalypse. I'm waiting for my roommate to get home so we can watch Fido.

*what was the last book you've read?
My astronomy textbook. I love it. I want to get a telescope. And Tales from Moominvalley, which I got at Half Price Books for 63 cents. Huzzah!

*what is your favorite local restaurant?
Kidd Valley, haha! And Than Brothers Pho. We don't have Pho in Indiana. It is so delicious. om nom nom.

*what is your favorite seattle memory (playing jenga at sit n spin, roller-blading at green lake, making out in front of the fremont troll, etc)?
I rode on a ferry once to go to Bainbridge Island. That was fun. First time on a ferry! And swimming in random apartment complex pools during the non-air-conditioned 90 degree summer heat is also a blast.

So I am a little shy, but I'd like to think I'm interesting. I'm definitely nice. I like to make presents and cakes for everyone on holidays (mostly for my own amusement). I'm easily entertained. :)

That's all!

Trying to figure out what to do next weekend? [03 Feb 2008|11:17am]

jessetastic
Dear Friends,

There's a little show running this month that we'd like to call "Matt & Ben".

It's about our favorite "Douchebag Faces", Matt Damon [see: Team America: World Police] and Ben Affleck [see: Mallrats], and their happenstance rise to fame and glory. The play follows them from the 'eating-ramen-and-masturbating-on-the-sofa' stage to their current 'mega-stardom-lets-date-Gwyneth-Paltrow-and-suck-Jack-Nicholson's-cock' stage.

If you have a few bucks to spare, come watch this stellar performance. It will change your life. I know that it's already changed mine, and I have only seen the trailer.

It runs from February 8 through February 17. Friday, Saturday AND Sunday, bitches. You can find it at the Freehold Theater at 915 Pine Street - up on Capital Hill. 8pm, so not even past your bedtime.

I'll be there opening night. I better see you there, too. Or else...

Also, read this little article (aka fantasticmotherfuckingreview) posted by the Seattle Weekly (!!!!!!!) about it. It'll knock your socks off. And if you're not wearing socks -- your toes!

But really, you should go, because it's going to be absolutely hilarious. You know I wouldn't pimp it unless I meant it.

Love, Jesse.

My time! [06 Nov 2007|08:44am]

jessetastic
I totally have been a member of this group for a year now or something, and I've never posted in it, because I didn't live in Seattle, but rather Kitsap. Now I live in the 206, so it's my time. My time!

My name's Jesse. I'm 25 and of the female persuasion. I have some friends in the city, but I totally need more. I'm a social butterfly. I need variety!

Okay, enjoy my little surveypoo.

*in which neighborhood (or city if you're not in seattle) do you live/work?
I just moved to Upper Queen Anne. Pretty damn swanky, but there's a badass taco shop next door, so I'm happy. I work in Belltown. It's exciting.

*what was the last movie you've seen?
The last movie I watched was Fido! So awesome! I love zombie movies! Especially satirical social commentary zombie movies.

*what was the last book you've read?
The last book I read was White Teeth by Zadie Smith. It took me a year to read the damn thing because I kept reading other books on top of it and forgetting about it. When I commuted across the ferries for a few weeks, I totally finished it. It was pretty good. Funny, smart, etc. etc. etc.

*what is your favorite local restaurant?
I like divey (and I guess divey enough to have become hipster) places like Mecca or Beth's Cafe. But then there's a place by my work called Lola that is expensive but damn delicious.

*what is your favorite seattle memory (playing jenga at sit n spin, roller-blading at green lake, making out in front of the fremont troll, etc)?
I have a knack for meeting band members at shows and making an ass of myself. The Cave Singers would be the latest one of these events.
I can't think of a favorite. I can say for sure that it was NOT roller-blading at Green Lake, though...

The intro [25 Oct 2007|12:42pm]

calmunderthewav
[ mood | curious ]

Well hello there!  My name is Jennifer, I moved to Seattle from Southern California about mmmm maybe 2 years ago.  I'm 25 and just looking to meet some good people.  I love to bowl, ride my beach cruiser (not limited to the beach), and wander the streets of my neighborhood with my camera.  I'm not calling myself a good photographer yet...I just like pretty things.  And puppies...puppies make me happy.  I'm down to chill and drink a brew, coffee, or tea.  I'm not limited in beverage preferences.  Book club, craft club, trashy reality television club...count me in.

*in which neighborhood (or city if you're not in seattle) do you live/work?

Live in Greenwood w/ potential move to Ballard but not sure yet.  Work downtown just past Fremont.

*what was the last movie you've seen?

3:10 to Yuma.  I highly recommend this....good 'ol Western "bang bang" movie, and you can't hate on Christian Bale....wow

*what was the last book you've read?

I'm still finishing Memoirs of a Geisha.  Not my first time reading it but I'm in between library books.

*what is your favorite local restaurant?

Sushi Tokyo!  love love love

*what is your favorite seattle memory (playing jenga at sit n spin, roller-blading at green lake, making out in front of the fremont troll, etc)?
I love the 24-hour bowling option at Sunset Bowl.  And I'm really sad they're tearing down Denny's across the street...those two made for a perfect evening, i tell ya
